User Rules
There are times where you need to treat some new users differently right off the bat. DeskPRO
has introduced the User Rules feature that lets you perform specific actions based on the
email address a user has entered when registering.
Email Address Filter
When a user is first registering, you know nothing about them. They could come from anywhere.
But an email address is one thing we can use to base an initial judgement off of. This is how
user rules work. By supplying a pattern for an email address you can define which users
are affected by the rule.
Performing Actions
Once a user has matched our criteria (their email matched a pattern), you can perform some
useful actions:
- Automatically add the user to a usergroup. For example, you might decide to add
all users that matched your pattern into the "Customers" usergroup.
- Automatically add the user to a company. Using this action can be an easy way
to automatically add users to their correct company based on their email address.
- Forcing validation settings. You can override the default user and tech validation
settings. This can be extremely useful for preventing spam. For example, force validation
for all users that have an email address from a free email provider like Hotmail or
Yahoo.
